Almost each one of us knows about our grandparent and have heard about their grandparents from them but the farther we try to look into our ancestry the hazier the information becomes resulting in a non-conclusive family tree.
You might have some paper records but that also only goes back to 5 generations and then there are the chances of these records being destroyed in the passage of time or ending up being false information.
But with the help of autosomal DNA testing, you can get information about the past 5-7 generations of your family in a detailed form. This type of genetic testing uses genetic markers that are present in your 23 pairs of chromosomes.
There are two other tests that can give you a deeper knowledge about your ancestor that a normal autosomal DNA test which is the following-
Ancestry DNA testing known as advanced autosomal DNA testing can trace back up to 50+ generations. These test uses AI in DNA testing to determine the DNA algorithms to get the information.
Mt-DNA haplogroup testing- this test uses mitochondrial DNA to trace your family history. They use haplogroup analyses to extend their reach for up to 100,000 years. This is possible because the mitochondrial DNA is passed down directly by the mother to the child since it is mostly unchanged. Due to this behavior of mitochondrial DNA researchers can trace back much farther than a traditional DNA test.
